Thinking about winter vacationing in Michigan?! That’s a decision you won’t regret. Michigan has a lot to offer to anyone interested in anything. From must-try food in Detroit to relaxing cabins surrounded by trees, snow and nature, Michigan offers a unique blend of old and new, creating a must-visit travel stop for explorers and adventure seekers.
I'll be honest, I wasn’t expecting much. Michigan was one of the 20 states I had yet to cross off my list, so to me, it felt more like a "stop to cross off" state. We decided on Michigan because being from Texas, we hardly get to see snow. Wanting to experience a snowy christmas and full winter vibe, Michigan seemed perfect, and definitely lived up to everything we expected. I was pleasantly surprised after spending 4 days exploring Michigan's beauty. From Detroit’s Motor City downtown vibes to Boyne Mountain’s wilderness and completely unplugged adventures, Michigan truly impressed me.

Heads-Up Tips:
For winter trips, remember that layering up is essential. Even with 20 layers, you might still feel the freezing cold. The weather impacted our itinerary, making it smaller than usual.
We visited Michigan from Dec. 19-22, during which temperatures were 7°F with wind chills making it feel like -10°F. Be prepared for harsh winter conditions if traveling during this time.
All in all, Michigan was a wholesome getaway. One that I would recommend to anyone looking to have a peaceful and quiet dreamy time in the cabin and out in the woods. If you're thinking about it, just book it! You'll figure out the rest later! :) XOXO,
Tess
