Birthplace of the infamous philly cheesesteak. Home of the liberty bell and the Rocky Statue. The city of Brotherly Love. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania has so much to offer from a rich history, beautiful bridges, amazing food, and all the Rocky movies vibes! Mind you, everything is walkable! A little over a month ago, my brothers and I flew to Baltimore, Maryland for what we thought would be a 3 day weekend trip. During this time, the freeze made it's way across Texas. Due to the freeze, we were unable to fly back into Texas. Our flight kept getting delayed, then eventually cancelled. What was supposed to be a 3 day trip turned into a 9 day trip but we did not mind, we took it a free vacation! From Baltimore, Maryland we drove our rental car to Washington, D.C, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Richmond, Virginia, and West Virginia!
Here is how my brothers and I made the most of our 2 days in this beautiful city.
Day 1:
Drove in and went right to the Rocky steps and Rocky Statue - this is a beautiful view from the top!
Philadelphia Museum of Art
Walked to Boathouse Row - unique historic site in Philly.
Philadelphia City Hall - largest municipal building in the U.S!
LOVE sculpture - Iconic sculpture in Philly! Super cute for a quick pic!
Dilworth Park - This area is super neat and right across the LOVE sculpture. There are shops, ice skating rink, and neat activities. Again, all walking distance.
Dalessandro's Steaks and Hoagies - We asked locals for their best philly cheesesteak recommendations and this was it! We had to try them out! Quick tip: they do not have fries or any sides for your cheesesteak! Get the cheese whiz on your steak!
We ended our night with driving into Hampton Inn Philadelphia Convention Center hotel and booked a room for the night. This hotel was fairly priced at $100 a night and very close driving/walking distance to must see/do sights! Super clean and well kept!

Day 2:
Independence National Historical Park - Must do! Everything in this area is walking distance and this is where all the historical museums and sights are.
Liberty Bell Center - We were able to see the Liberty Bell which holds so much rich history!
Independance Hall - Right across the Liberty Bell and a must to tour!
National Constitution Center - I'll be honest, my brothers and I are not BIG on history but all of these museums and centers were just way too historical to pass up. This is the foundation of our country!
United States Mint - Where they print money!! So neat to walk by! Major "Money Heist" vibes.
Benjamin Franklin Bridge - Walking distance from everything else and you can actually walk across it! A must! Beware of heights though.
Philadelphia Old City - A neighborhood with so many neat shops and more rich history!
Elfreth's Alley - This was so neat because it is the oldest residential street in America and the doors/shutters on each home are so colorful.
Betsey Ross house - Where the American Flag as born! You can even tour the house!
The Bourse - Food hall! Just about any food you can think of lives here.
Philadelphia Magic Gardens - We REALLY wanted to go to this but upon looking it up for directions, they were closed due to the pandemic.
South Street - One of Philadelphia's most electric and lively neighborhoods. Tons of shops, thrifts, vintage stores, restaurants, bars, and cafes!
Delaware River Waterfront - We ended our day here for the most gorgeous and relaxing view of the city and the bridge. So many areas to just sit and spend time here. Well worth it, especially at night when everything is lit up.

Overall, Philadelphia was definitely my favorite city and the highlight of our 9 day trip! This is one I would DEFINITELY recommend to anyone and has made it's way to my "Top 10 Must See States" list! So easy and fun to do so many adventurous activities while eating good food that you get to walk off around the city, and getting a "history lesson" out of it. Whether you want to learn more about our country, shop some unique shops, eat good food, sight see, it is ALL HERE! Reach out if you need help planning a trip to Philly! Or reach out if you need help planning a trip anywhere in general!
Stay tuned for my Virginia and West Virginia blogs to come!
XOXO, Tess
